Call for Expressions of Interest: G20 Social Summit

The G20 Social Summit is scheduled for 18–20 November 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

This flagship platform is crucial for integrating civil society voices into the G20 decision-making process. It aims to foster global solidarity, advance inclusive development, and deliver a Declaration that reflects the aspirations and lived realities of citizens, especially the most vulnerable.

As an actively engaged partner in developing the G20 Social Summit agenda, T20 South Africa is inviting its community members to attend as T20 delegates.


Thematic Areas

Delegates will engage in discussions across the following core thematic areas:

  • Digital Inclusion and Equitable Transformation
  • A Just and Sustainable Finance and International Financial Architecture
  • Inclusive Climate Justice, Just Transition and Energy Democracy
  • Building Momentum for Achievement of the SDGs and Agenda 2063
  • Trade Resilience and Inclusive Value


Who Can Apply?

This call is open to any current member of the T20 Community.


Role of a Delegate

Selected delegates will represent the T20 Engagement Group and will have the opportunity to actively participate in the negotiation process of the G20 Social Summit Declaration. This Declaration will be handed over to the President of the Republic of South Africa ahead of the G20 Leaders’ Summit.

All submissions must be received by 26 October 2025.


Selection and Approval

Expressions of interest will be subject to approval by the T20 South Africa Secretariat and the South African G20 Social Summit protocol team. The selection is based on a limited allocation of delegate spots for the T20 Engagement Group.

If you have not heard from us by 27 October, please consider your application unsuccessful.


Attendance Requirements

  • In-Person Only: Participation is strictly in-person in Johannesburg, South Africa. No virtual participation will be possible.
  • Costs: Interested attendees must be prepared to be responsible for their travel and accommodation costs. T20 South Africa will not be able to provide any financial support unless explicitly and separately communicated to successful delegates.
