The dialogue aimed to amplify African voices, stimulate robust policy discussions, and develop well informed, Africa-centric recommendations that contribute meaningfully to the global policy agenda. At the heart of our conversations were pressing issues such as inclusive economic growth, sustainable development, and reforms in global governance, all of which are essential to achieving the African futures we collectively envision.
The programme featured nine high-level panel discussions, sparking engaging conversations around global governance challenges and potential solutions. Additionally, a participatory Futures Literacy Panel applied futures thinking and foresight methodologies to envision the multifaceted futures of the African continent.
Underscoring the significance of this event were the compelling introductory remarks delivered by the Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Alvin Botes, which paved the way for the highly anticipated keynote address by the Deputy President of South Africa, H.E. Paul Mashatile.
This event was proudly hosted by the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD and the T20 South Africa Secretariat – the Institute for Global Dialogue, the South African Institute of International Affairs and the Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation.
